About

Make the Change is a wellbeing and happiness website brought to you by counsellor and author Julia Barnard. As you browse through the site you will find numerous articles intended to give your wellbeing a boost. Julia writes summaries of recent research which she hopes the reader can apply to their own life. She has also written about counselling, online counselling and therapy-related issues. You will also find a number of books for sale all written by Julia.

In 2005 Make the Change was originally set up to provide online counselling to adults in Australia and around the world. During this time, Julia gathered a great deal of knowledge that she has put into an eBook: Online Counselling: a Therapist’s Guide. Over the years, the website evolved and changed, as did Julia. She began writing more and more and published her first book in February 2010: Promoting Happiness.

About Julia Barnard

Originally from the UK, Julia moved to Adelaide, Australia in 2003. She is a qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Counselling as well as a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, a BSc Honours degree in Applied Sociology and a BA Honours.

She began her counselling work in 2001. Before becoming a counsellor, Julia worked in a number of different roles. Since leaving university, she’s worked as a research assistant, editor and did a short stint as a taxation officer. As well as counselling, Julia has done rehabilitation work with people who have experienced brain injury.

Julia has always been keen to share her knowledge and believes this is reflected in her websites. She discovered Positive Psychology in 2004 and found something she loved.

In August 2010 she wound up her online counselling service (for now anyway) as she pursues new projects.

Because change is inevitable, but we’re okay with that right?
